Browsing my blog roll looking for inspiration and to see what sorts of things the people I follow are up to on this December afternoon. I saw the below quote and had to read through it twice to really let it sink in because it applies a bit to me and my journey this year but it really applied to the fight my father fought for 16 months after his stroke.
Unless someone can look into the core of your heart and see the degree of your passion, or look into the depths of your soul and see the extent of your will, then they have no business telling you what you can or cannot achieve. Because while they may know the odds, they do not know YOU. -Sandra Kring
That is just so true, especially for my stubborn family. I would like to think we are stubborn for good but sometimes that is not the case.
We listened to doctors tell us he would not get better from the night after he had the stroke. But not a single one of those doctors knew my father, knew the extent of his resolve, his determination. We did, and that’s why we stood firm until infection took its inevitable toll. The stroke might have taken away his words, but it didn’t take away his voice.
If you are out there right now fighting the same battles, stay strong and stick to your convictions.
